dewpoint

ICK

If you were watching WAVY News 10 over the weekend, you probably heard our weekend anchor, Lori Crouch, say “ick” to my 7-day forecast.  ;)  Although I like beach weather, I’m not a fan of really humid weather.  Neither is Lori.

I’ve written about humidity and bad hair days before.  If your hair wasn’t perfect today, I don’t think it’ll get better this week if you spend a lot of time outside.  If you’re curious as to why, read on…

I blame the dewpoint temperature.  The dewpoint measures the amount of moisture in the atmosphere: the higher the number, the more uncomfortable we feel.  The higher the dewpoint, the more difficult it becomes to tame our hair.

Here’s a “dewpoint decoder” that I came up with:

< 60     Comfortable

60-65  A Bit Muggy

65-70  Quite Humid

> 70     Oppressive

This week our dewpoints will be in the “quite humid/oppressive categories.”  The best thing to do to try to beat the humidity is to drink plenty of water and stay indoors in air conditioning if possible.  To fix a bad hair day, we can try hair spray, unless you have any other ideas?

Do you have a secret for fixing a bad hair day?   Post a reply and let us know.  Thanks!  :)

Bad Hair Day? Blame the Dewpoint.

If your hair hasn’t been perfect lately, you’re not alone.

Over the past few days dewpoints have been in the quite humid/oppressive categories.  The best thing to do to try to beat the humidity is to drink plenty of water and stay indoors in the air conditioning if possible.  To fix a bad hair day, we can try hair spray, unless you have any other ideas?  Relief is on the way, but not until the weekend.
