Welcome Back WinterMarch 23rd, 2014 at 9:06 am by Jeff Edmondson WAVY under Weather
Winter like temperatures are back for the next several days ahead across our area. For today a north wind will keep our readings near 49 degrees. With the chilly wind; rain is also going to move in.
We should see the scattered showers move in this afternoon and continue into tonight. Most of the rain will wrap up around sunset.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, the weather models have begun to tweak their solutions a bit from what was advertised yesterday. Today’s run’s have less snow and more rain across our area. First, we will see the rain move in around the middle of the day on Tuesday.
As the storm starts to push further to the north we will see the rain changing to snow in the afternoon. I believe this will happen after 3/4pm.
A rain/snow mix will likely develop Tuesday night. I am not as worried about heavy snow accumulation this time around since the window for seeing actual snow will be short. Also ground temperatures are relatively warm, and everything will already be wet which will melt some of the snow on contact.
This is what I am going with for snow totals as of now. Remember, I believe that the snow will stick to mostly grassy surfaces, decks and maybe sidewalks. I don’t expect this being a snow that will stick to interstates or heavily traveled roads. If we can get some more cold air, and we get higher totals, then road conditions may become compromised. Lets keep our eyes on this storm over the next few days as it develops and the models change.
