It’s shaping up to be a weekend full of music and laughs in Hampton Roads. Take a look at what’s going on…

Friday, August 9:

-NORFOLK: Battle of the Bands is taking place at the NorVA. The winner of the contest, who will be decided by audience vote, will open for Scott Weiland on August 12. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 at the door.

-PORTSMOUTH: Don’t forget about tunnel closures going into effect Friday night! Starting at 8 p.m., the westbound tube of the Downtown Tunnel will be closing on the weekends. The closure will start at 8 p.m. Friday and remain in effect until 5 a.m. Monday…until next spring! Click here for more information and alternate routes.

-SUFFOLK: Head to Bennett’s Creek Park for music and food Friday night as part of the T.G.I.F. Summer Concert Series. The Michael Clark Band will be Friday night’s entertainment. The concert is held at Bennett’s Creek Park, 3000 Bennett’s Creek Park Road, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public. For more information, visit www.suffolkva.us/parks.

-VIRGINIA BEACH: John Witherspoon is bringing the laughs to the Virginia Beach Funny Bone. If you missed him on The Hampton Roads Show, you can still see him in person! -VIRGINIA BEACH: Country music fans are flocking to Farm Bureau Live to see Jason Aldean Friday night. The show starts at 7:30 p.m., and also features Jake Owen and Thomas Rhett as part of the 2013 Night Train Tour.

CorbinDallasSaturday, August 10:

-CHESAPEAKE: Corbin Dallas is performing at Winston’s Café in Chesapeake Saturday night. The band performed on the Hampton Roads Show Friday. Click here to check out their performance.

-HAMPTON: More than 75 boats are expected to compete in the 88th Annual Hampton Cup Regatta this weekend. The races start Saturday at 10 a.m. The event is free and open to the public.

-NORFOLK: PRIDEFest 2013 is taking place Saturday at Town Point Park in Norfolk. The event is free, and everyone is welcome. It runs from noon to 7 p.m. Click here for more information.

-NORFOLK: The Kings of Hollywood Tour comes to the NorVA Saturday night. You’ll be able to see Appetite for Destruction (Guns N Roses tribute), Poison’d (Poison tribute), and Red, White & Crue (Motley Crue tribute) perform for $12.50. The show starts at 8 p.m.

-WILLIAMSBURG: Folks will be lacing up Saturday for a scenic 5K run or walk through The Vineyards of Williamsburg. A one-mile fun run begins at 6:30 p.m., and the 5K begins at 7 p.m. For more information visit 5k.cdr.org.

Sunday, August 11:

Comedian-NORFOLK: The Virginia Zoo is hosting a blood drive with the American Red Cross from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The blood drive will be in the Zoo parking lot, located at 3500 Granby St. in Norfolk.
