Dog Days? More Like A Persian Cat!

Hello!  These are supposed to be the “dog days of Summer”.  However, yesterday and today will be more like…well, as it says in the title, a little kitty.  I mean not only is it relatively cool, but it is also very dry for this time of year.   This all started on Saturday.  A big cold front moved through a little sooner than forecast, so the storms did too (evening vs. afternoon).  Then on Sunday we cleared out and dried out nicely behind the front.  High pressure built in and gave us some great weather.  Today the high pressure area has settled in even more.

Dew points have dropped to the upper 50s to low 60s. Typically this time of year the dew points are in the 70s solid.

Even with all of this sunshine, high temperatures are expected to stay in the low 80s.  This will be partially due to a nice northeast breeze.  Temperatures will warm up tomorrow though, and humidity will return along with more southerly winds.  The average high temperature is 87 degrees for this time of year.  We’ll slowly increase towards that average over the next couple of days.  Overnight lows will be in the 60s tonight.  So that is a double bonus.  Tomorrow we also have a chance for a few showers and storms.  It looks like another wet period from Thursday through Saturday.  I’ve left out the rain chances for next Sunday.  Hopefully, the next system will clear the area by then.  Enjoy the weather today!
