We are still in the same pattern today that we have been in the past few days.

We will continue to see scattered showers and thunderstorms today. Especially this morning, an additional 1-2″ of rain is possible in NE. N.C. Going in to this afternoon there is a chance we could dry out for a bit and just see a mix of clouds and sunshine.

There is still a 40% chance of rain/thunderstormsĀ  this afternoon. With the few peaks of sun we should see temperatures get close to 86 this afternoon. Normal this time of year is 87 so we are just about spot on for the last day of June.

For tomorrow we are still looking at a decent chance of rain in the morning and afternoon. The rain chances will drop by Wednesday.

Surf Update:

For surfers who are waiting for a bigger swell conditions have improved a bit today. This morning at the oceanfront waves were mostly 1-3ft.

This afternoon many of the wave models are bringing a notch higher of 2-3ft waves for the oceanfront beaches. For the Outer Banks waves could be 2-4ft later today. Now normally this time of year you wouldn’t think to grab the wetsuit, but I might recommend it for today, especially across the OBX. Upwelling has been occurring recently which dropped the ocean temperatures from near 70 back down to 60-64 degrees.

The rip current risk today is Moderate.

Enjoy your Sunday!
