Rain Today, Supermoon Tonight

June 22nd, 2013 at 9:00 am by under Weather

Just like yesterday in the afternoon some light rain will move in across Hampton Roads around the middle of the day. With the rain moving in the humidity will also rise.

Warm Front Moving In

Once that front passes it will really increase the humidity. Dew points across the Southside were already in the upper 60s as of 9am. After it passes the dew point will be in the low-70s. Some light rain is expected again today with that front passing by.

Heavy Drizzle/Light Rain

About 0.25″ is expected for the rain. We really won’t see much, but it will be slower and steady which will make it feel wet and soggy out this afternoon. If you have plans to be outside later today do not forget that umbrella!

Tonight there is a good chance that we will see decreasing clouds.

Supermoon Tonight

Supermoon Tonight

The annual Supermoon is tonight, this year it will appear 14% larger than a normal full moon. It will also cause some nuisance tidal flooding for the usual spots across Hampton Roads. At high tide tonight for Sewells Pt. the water level will be at 3.7ft. (4.5ft is Minor Tidal Flooding) The moon will rise before sunset today and set at 6am tomorrow.

We could see some more showers tomorrow in the afternoon. It will also be hotter, highs will be near 86.

Enjoy your weekend!
