Could It Be? An Easy Forecast?June 20th, 2013 at 6:37 am by Jeremy Wheeler under Weather
Yes…it’s true. We might actually have a simple forecast for a change. High pressure is building into the region. We have dried out nicely. We will see a lot of sunshine today with highs in the upper 70s. There is one small hiccup to the forecast though. The cold front which moved through yesterday has stalled out south of Hatteras. This is common for this time of year. It will bring a few showers to the southern Outer Banks over the next couple of days. The models keep the rain away from Hampton Roads, but it’s possible that some of the passing showers will move a little farther north over the weekend into other parts of North Carolina. So having said that, we are looking good going into the weekend with fair skies and highs in the 80s.
In the tropics we have tropical storm Barry. It is near the port city of Veracruz Mexico. Sustained winds were at 45mph and it was moving generally westward.
The storm won’t bring damaging winds to the region, but they will see heavy rain from Veracruz to Mexico City. This could create problems with landslides over the higher elevations of Mexico.
