I don’t know about you but the week seems to be flying by..maybe that’s because I go on vacation next week (My mind is already there). I’m looking ahead not only to vacation but to Friday when we welcome back our good friends, Like A Storm, to the stage. It’s always a great time when the Brooks Brothers stop by the studio and this time will be no exception. The audience will be made up entirely of Like A Storm fans and one of our favorite comedians, The Ragin Cajun aka John Morgan will be hangin’ out with us, so the good time will be rolling. This past weekend, I got to catch up with Like A Storm in Richmond where they performed with our buds Seven Ten Oil and Revery. An awesome show with a great turnout to hear the great music from our hometown rock bands and brothers from New Zealand. Revery really blew the roof of the joint with their performance. They performed a couple of tunes that they hadn’t played in years including my personal favorite, Penelope and debuted a brand new tune called Walk On Water that has been running through my head ever since. All three are going to do all over again in Virginia Beach Friday night at Smoked Out with Dirty Rock joining for the bill and it’s an all-ages FREE show. We’ll talk about it more Friday.
Teenapalooza III is Sunday afternoon at the Jewish Mother Hilltop and they’ve assembled a great lineup. The lineup is Alana Springsteen, Zig Zag, User Friendly, Coastland, Just Folks, Matt Shwayze and The UnXpected. Alana, who wowed the crowd at the Sugarland concert by singing Baby Girl with them, is currently writing songs with Sugarland’s Kristian Bush for her upcoming album. Tickets are $10 are can be purchased at the door.
Our thoughts and well-wishes go out to Carl Morris, vocalist of the hard rock band KNucKLE, who is recovering from a serious motorcylce accident this past weekend. He suffered a badly broken arm and leg and is recovering at a Fredricksburg hospital but will hopefully be home this weekend. As you know, our local musicians work their butts off for little pay, so please check out their Facebook page to see if there is anything you can do.
That’s all for me today. Stay cool and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC!
