Cooler with Some Rain for Mother’s DayMay 12th, 2013 at 8:57 am by Jeff Edmondson WAVY under Weather
A few of us had thunderstorms last night:
We had one particular storm cell pass over areas in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach last night which produced heavy rainfall. Some areas saw over 1″ of rain in 15 minutes! Rain Totals from the Fentress Airfield were 2.92″ in 24 hours. Along the Peninsula rain totals were less than 0.15″
For this Sunday, Mother’s Day, we will see a few AM showers as the cold air starts to rush in from the northwest.
The scattered showers should come to and end around 10am. Around midday (11am – 2pm) I am expecting dry weather with a mix of clouds and a little sunshine. Then this late afternoon and this evening more rain is possible.
With the clouds and off and on showers, highs will be close to 70 today. Tonight, you may notice the chill back in the air. Lows should dip back to 49 tonight. We are going to keep the cooler temperatures for the next few days ahead, tomorrow highs will be near 60 and Monday Night we could even see record lows across the Hampton Roads cities.
Have a Happy Mother’s Day, and stay dry!
