One Day Warmup!April 24th, 2013 at 8:08 am by Jeremy Wheeler under Weather
We are going to have a nice warm day today, but it will be very short-lived. This morning we actually had a chilly & damp start. There was patchy thick fog and temps were in the upper 40s to low 50s. Soon we’ll burn off the fog, and we’ll go to mostly sunny skies. We started with winds out of the south (light). This afternoon the winds will be SSW at 10-20mph. So high temperatures will shoot up into the upper 70s. The average high temp is 70 degrees for this time of year. Cooler weather is right on the heels of this one-day warmup.
So today we have high pressure, sunshine, and warming winds.
There is more rain in the Midwest which will not help with the flooding situation there. Many barges on the Mississippi River could not move due to low water just a month or two ago. Now they can’t move due to flooding. (Barge traffic). Tonight the cold front will move into the region giving us a few scattered showers here. The line won’t be as continuous as it was over the Midwest. Then tomorrow we will have rain for the first half of the day as the front moves southeast.
I’m not expecting too much rain in the next 24 hours. It looks like it will be between a couple tenths of an inch up to a half inch at most. There shouldn’t be too many thunderstorms, but an isolated storm is possible.
We’ll stay dry Friday and Saturday. I have a slight chance for a shower on Sunday, but the models have been disagreeing on how much rain there will be. Stay tuned if you have outdoor plans.
