Big Improvement This Afternoon!March 19th, 2013 at 9:47 am by Tiffany Savona WAVY under Weather
It was a rainy, dreary and foggy start to your Tuesday morning. I captured this view out of our Tower Camera in Portsmouth before 8AM.
The fog was more of a problem across Northeastern North Carolina. All Hertford County Public Schools were on a 2-hour delay due to the dense fog. All visibilities are now above 1 mile, so the fog is not quite as thick as it was earlier this morning. The fog should lift later this morning as wind speeds increase a little bit. We are tracking a cold front that is located just to the west of Lynchburg.
A stray shower/areas of drizzle will be possible throughout the rest of the morning before we dry out this afternoon. The clouds will hold tough until the cold front reaches Hampton Roads. Our Future Trak has us partly cloudy around noon with lots of sunshine by 5:00PM. We should finally see the sunshine later today and it will be warmer with highs in the lower 60s.
We will see more of a gradual cool down instead of an immediate cool down over the next several days. Reminder: Spring begins tomorrow! Highs on Wednesday will be in the low/mid 50s. Another reinforcing shot of cold air will move in Wednesday night/early Thursday. Thursday and Friday will be even colder with highs only in the 40s. So much for feeling like spring by the end of the week. Unfortunately our weather pattern is going to stay unsettled and cool over the next 7 days.
