Snow/Ice To Start The Cold Week AheadMarch 18th, 2013 at 8:57 am by Jeff Edmondson WAVY under Weather
A quick half inch to inch of snow, slush, and ice pellets blanketed parts of the region this morning.
A few schools were closed in Middlesex Co, VA and some schools were delayed in Accomack Co this morning. We started to see the rain change to snow at 4am for our northern viewing area and that mixture stayed like that all morning. For the Peninsula and south it was just rain or drizzle. Temperatures are still going to stay on the cool side with a east wind at 10-15mph today.
This afternoon we might see some sunshine across the Outer Banks and possibly in to Virginia as well, but don’t count on a lot. Scattered showers will still continue to push from south to north today. Tonight more rain will move through ahead of an approaching cold front. We might see temperatures warming overnight tonight. Tomorrow highs should be near 60 with morning rain. In the afternoon we will see clearing skies and sunshine.
Colder temperatures will be here for the rest of the week with highs in the 40s to 50s.
