Highway 12 Overwash Continues

March 10th, 2013 at 11:10 pm by under Weather

From the past storm system that brought us the 30-40mph winds a few days ago helped to create a massive swell of waves. This morning wave heights were topping out close to 15ft across the Outer Banks. Here are a few pictures from this morning’s high tide across the OBX (Near Rodanthe)

The above photos are credit to photographer Daniel Pullen. There might be some overwash again on Monday morning and in the evening during the high tides. Wave heights could still be 5-10 ft tomorrow. The swell that is pushing in these waves will fade away over the next few days.
