LMF: Logan Vath

I always look forward to Friday because this is the day that I get to showcase the fine musical talent of Hampton Roads.  Today one of the best of the best was our Live Music Friday featured artist: Logan Vath.  Logan was first on the show back in September after Over The Ocean guitarist Joshua Bogart demanded that I book him.  So I did.  When Logan was on then he mentioned to me that he was currently working on his debut album and today was the day it saw the light.  Better Man or Ghost was co-produced by Mark Padgett and features a smorgasbord of musicians including Andrew Michael Montgomery of Esbern Snare, who also accompanied Logan today on the keys.  Better Man or Ghost is available now for download on his Bandcamp page and will be releasing the CD version at his release concert tomorrow night at the Jewish Mother Backstage in Norfolk.  If you missed Logan’s performance on the show, here it is in it’s entirety:

Yesterday, Brooklyn-based band Ambassadors stopped by the studio for a little web exclusive performance.  This was a first of what I hope to be a continued thing.  I have a lot of bands ,both local and national, that are stopping through town and want to appear on the show.  Well, we only have music on Fridays (hence the name Live Music Friday) so when musicians are only in town mid-week, I have to decline them.  I made the dreadful mistake of saying no to The Lumineers last year and I knew I could not make the same mistake again.  When Ambassadors’ manager called me, I knew I had to find a way to get them in so I offered it to them as a web exclusive and they were cool with it.  It was great because it allowed me to be a little more creative since I also direct it and it allows the band to play without a time limit.  They were super nice guys and such a joy to work with.  They really appreciate all of the love and support the Hampton Roads community give them and they don’t get this kind of love everywhere they go but I have a feeling that’s going to change.  If you missed it yesterday, here is their exclusive performance:

That is it for me today.  I’ll be at Logan’s CD release show tomorrow night, so if you see me, don’t hesitate to buy me a beer.  SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC
