Dry And Cool Today, But Friday………..

February 6th, 2013 at 7:30 am by under Weather

Yesterday turned out very pleasant.  It was tough to scour out all the clouds, but we ended up mostly to partly sunny with highs in the mid-upper 50s.  We had some 60s in North Carolina.   Then last night a weak cool front moved through unnoticed, but it will affect us a bit today.  So through the day we will have a northwest breeze and slightly cooler temperatures.  We are also pulling down some drier air though.  So we’ll see lots of sunshine today.

Today’s Forecast

Tomorrow looks to have quiet weather as well, but we will be cooler still with highs in the upper 40s.  We’ll also have more clouds tomorrow.  On Friday a weak but broad area of low pressure will move up out of the southern states.  This will move through our region and bring us a high chance for rain.  The low will move offshore and then produce some breezy north/northwest winds by Friday night.  As the low moves northward it is expected to bring some hefty snow into areas like Boston, New York, and Montpelier.  We’ll dodge the snow on this one.  Sorry snow-lovers! We will see some heavy rain though, and 1-2 inches will be common in the region.  We could see a few problems for the morning commute Friday as heavy rain may move in by then.  Stay tuned!

We will be breezy and cooler on Saturday, then mild and dry for Sunday.  Another area of low pressure will bring more rain to the region Monday into Tuesday. We are also expecting much warmer temperatures early next week.  Highs are forecast to be in the low 60s.

Thanks, Jeremy. Will the rain be gone in time for the 14K Saturday morning?

It should be gone by then Geoff. The wind will be very strong though through at least midday Saturday. Have a good run! Jeremy

Does this mean winter is un-officially over? It looks like temperatures have taken on a spring like pattern. If that’s the case, summer is going to be horrible.

I hear ya Kim. It is becoming Spring-like. I think we will get another surge of cold air though. But the long range models are not showing any snowy patterns. Maybe we’ll get a cold surge in the 3rd or last week of February. This Spring could get very warm if this keeps up. Especially with the lack of snowpack across the U.S. Jeremy
