Nice Warmup Today. Steady She Follows!

February 5th, 2013 at 9:01 am by under Weather

Yesterday was pretty chilly, but at least the winds weren’t too bad.  It did manage to get into the 40s in many cities.  However, today we are talking about warmer weather.  We’ve updated the forecast since yesterday.  Let’s set the scene….last night we had lots of clouds and a southerly wind.  So the temperatures barely fell during the overnight hours.  In fact…the temps came up a little bit even before sunrise this morning.  We are still expecting lots of clouds for the first half of today, but the southwesterly winds and mild start will result in highs at least 10 degrees above average.   There is also a warm front to our north which is aiding in the heating process:

Today’s Forecast Map

We do expect some clearing later this afternoon.  At that point high temps will aim for the upper 50s to low 60s.

By tonight a cool front will sweep through the region.  This time the front is expected to move through as a dry front.  So we aren’t expecting any rain nor any snow.  Tomorrow the winds will be out of the northwest.  Despite lots of sunshine highs will dip a bit to the low 50s.  Hey!  That’s still not bad at all for February.  The average high is 49.

The colder air will sink-in on Thursday.  That’s when highs will be in the mid-upper 40s.

The next chance for rain is on Friday.  A weak area of low pressure will come up from the southwest through North Carolina.  It will cause some showers, but no big weather is expected at this time. Temps will be fairly steady through the next 7 days.  No huge warmups or cool downs.  It does look like we will see some nice warming though by next Tuesday.  Stay tuned.
