LMF: Matt MasonJanuary 18th, 2013 at 11:27 am by Kyle Bloom under THRS Live Music
The day we have been waiting for has finally arrived..FRIDAY! It was a cold, wet and slushy commute into work this morning as we kicked off our morning show a half hour early but all of that is gone, the sun is out and it’s ready for the weekend. One thing I’m looking forward to this weekend is the release of Hardy, Porter: the newest seasonal brew from Smartmouth Brewery in Norfolk. In addition to supporting local music, support your local brews and businesses. These are the backbone to what makes this community great and unique. Cheers!. Now speaking of local music, today’s Live Music Friday featured artist this week is Matt Mason. A great acoustic, singer-songwriter from Virginia Beach, Matt debuted a brand new song on the show, so brand new that it doesn’t have a title. We like that here at LMF. You can catch Matt perform Saturday, February 9 at The Wesley House in Norfolk. He will also head out on the road with Pilot! and The Eleventh Hour later this spring, so you definitely don’t want to miss that. If you missed his performance on the show today, as always, I have you covered and since I like you, I’m going to give you the entire second song for free. Check it out:
If you missed out on getting tickets to the special MAE show celebrating the 10th anniversary of Destination: Beautiful, guess what? A SECOND show has just been announced! It will be held at the Hilltop Jewish Mother Saturday, February 23nd. Tickets are available now by clicking this link or by picking them up at Jewish Mother.
Today, you can pick up a copy of the special local music edition of VEER Magazine and take an in-depth look at all of the nominees for the VEER Magazine Local Music Awards. Online voting has started and you have up until Feb. 1 to vote. Click here to fill out your ballot, I know it’s going to be tough to choose among all of these fantastic artists and promoters of local music especially in category 26.
That’s all for me today. Have a great weekend and don’t forget to tune in every Sunday night at 11a to 96x for the Local Music Show. One hour of pure local love. You can’t go wrong with that and you always must SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC.
