LMF: Day 3January 10th, 2013 at 11:25 am by Kyle Bloom under THRS Live Music
Thursday is finally upon us and it’s time to head out to the THRS set and set up for our Live Music Friday guest, Uglyography. This awesome band is in full promotion mode as they prepare for the release of their new album, Four Shafts Are Uglier Than One. It will be released in grand fashion with a release party Saturday, Jan. 26 at The Hampton Taphouse. I’ll talk more about them tomorrow but first, today is the big Battle For Halestorm at The NorVA and I have the final two bands to introduce you to. Monday was A New Day Rising and As The World Burns, Tuesday was Chainangel and Ghost Of April and today we meet Inference and JACT.
This Hampton based rock band features the Darden brothers. With Nick on vocals and Will on bass, the guys just recruited David Cohen to takeover the drumming duties and the Battle will be David’s first gig with the Inference. They have sound that is a comparable blend of Tool and Alice In Chains. You can check out more on Inference here.
This rock band is no stranger to the local rock scene. Formed in 2009 when drummer Andy Sheffield met guitarist and vocalist James Atkins, the guys started getting together for jams sessions and when everything started to click, they took it to the next level. In 2010, they added Mike Jordan to fill in the low end and earlier this month they asked Megan Geers to takeover the lead vocals. They also just released their debut album, State Of Grevience and you can grab your copy or get more info on JACT here
Now that you have met the bands, all you have to do is head out to The NorVA tonight and support and vote for your favorite band for the honor of opening up for Halestorm.
That’s all for me today. Tune in tomorrow to The Hampton Roads Show at 11a to hear Uglyography. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC
