You Want Warm? You Got It…

January 7th, 2013 at 8:27 am by under Weather

While there is a huge warmup on the way this week, today is still going to be on the chilly side.  We had highs in the upper 40s to around 50 over the weekend.  Today the winds will be a little stronger out of the north.  So that will put our high temps back in that category.  At least today we will have lots of sunshine out there.

Today’s Forecast Map

Over the next few days we will have a more southerly wind.   This persistent warming will will escalate the high temps well into the 60s all the way into next weekend!

Warm Weather This Week

Highs tomorrow will rise to the 50s with partly sunny skies.  Highs after that will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s.

Temperature Trend

The mid 60s will really show up by next Friday into the weekend.  We may even upgrade that into the 70s.  Stay tuned!  As you can tell this is going to kill any chances for snow during that time for our region.  The long range models don’t even show any cold weather through the middle of NEXT week.  That could change though.  I imagine some cold air will be around the corner by that time.  This warm weather will melt a lot of the snow in the Eastern U.S.  over the next few days.  The National Snow Analysis Center shows about 58% of the U.S. with a snowpack at the moment.  This will probably get knocked down to about 30% by the weekend.

U.S. Snowpack

Some people still don’t buy into Global Warming, but I’m becoming a firm believer.  Aside from all of the very warm 2012 and now early 2013, I looked out my back window yesterday and noticed that the trees were already starting to bud.  I think they did that in February last year, but now in January???  The numbers are still getting tallied up for 2012 to see if it was the warmest year on record.
