Where’s The Wintry Mix?

January 2nd, 2013 at 5:28 am by under Weather

We are pretty much on track this morning with the wintry mix.  The radar detected a few areas of mix (pink on the map) between the Middle Peninsula and Eastern Shore. There was one area for a while between Williamsburg and Gloucester county as well.

Super Doppler 10 (5:00am)

I live on the southside, and I even had a few melting sleet pellets hit my car.  The surface temperatures are well above freezing.  So whatever falls this morning should all melt.  The models have backed off of the changeover this morning between 6 and 8am, but I think we will see a little mix.  I still think a few snowflakes are possible between now and 7 am, but probably north of the metro.  By this afternoon….even by midday…we will start drying out.  Skies should be partly cloudy by about the noon hour.  I’ll have a more detailed blog out later this morning.  Have a good one and drive safe.
