Welcome back to the grind of the work week.  Just a little over a week until Christmas, so I bet you’re like me and have no idea what you bought and who for…well, maybe it’s just me.  I can’t tell you how busy I’ve been juggling the work load at work and at home.  I’ve purchased some stuff but don’t ask what it is.  Anyways, lets just get on with the music.

Last Friday we welcomed the acoustic rock band, Solemn Flight, to The Hampton Roads Show stage.  An excellent group that orginally formed in Japan, they have been keeping a pretty busy schedule playing around the towns.  They have an upcoming show Wednesday night at Geared Up Rock Bar in Virginia, so I highly recommend checking them out.  Here is their performance from the show:

Tomorrow is the deadline if you want your holiday tune submitted for the special 2 hour holiday edition of The Local Music Show on 96X.  Local music extraordinaire Crizti Walsh has put together a fantastic show featuring our home grown musical talent performing their original and favorite holiday tunes.  The show airs Sunday and Crizti has received so many submissions that the show has moved into Monday morning.  2 hours of local holly and jolly from 11p-1a Sunday on 96X.  If you’re passed out on eggnog and miss it, no worries, you can catch it on their wonderful podcast…and speaking of Ms. Walsh, I have a little bit of an announcement to make.  Friday, December 28 will be the Best Of Live Music Friday edition of The Hampton Roads Show and Crizti will be co-hosting!  Crizti, Ariane and yours truly (that’s right, you’ll see my ugly mug on the TV) will be taking a look back through the 2012 season of Live Music Friday and talking local music.  We even have a special guest that will be dropping the studio for a little chat but I can’t reveal who it is just yet, you’ll just have to tune it to find out.  So mark the last Friday on your 2012 calendar for 11am.  WAVY-TV.  The Hampton Roads Show: Best Of Live Music Friday with special co-host Crizti Walsh of 96X.

One final note for today.  Over the weekend, fire struck right in the heart of our local music scene.  Ryan Ware of The Fighting Jameson, Ryan Carmichael of Applaud The Impaler and Ryan Merritt lost everything in a fire that swept across their apartment complex in Virginia Beach.  If you would like to make any monetary donations and if any bands would like to donate merchandise please click on this link.   Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated.
