A Soggy Start on a Sunday

December 16th, 2012 at 9:11 am by under Weather

Many areas have seen over 1 inch of rain so far this morning from a line of showers that have moved across the Tidewater area. Right now you may have just cloudy skies, but don’t be fooled, we will see some more rain this evening.

Lots of rain in the forecast.

A warm front will slowly move to the north today and that is going to mean more rain and more fog for our area. The next chance of rain will come this afternoon.

Future Trak @ 1pm

We should first start to see the showers move in to areas near Suffolk and Franklin first. Eventually this line will swing across the Peninsula and also the Northern Neck. Most of the rain though will be focused across North Carolina. As of 9am Currituck had 1.00″, Kitty Hawk had 0.87″, and Elizabeth City received 0.91″. Norfolk had only 0.48″ as of this morning. Williamsburg received 0.25″.

This rain will continue overnight were we could see an additional 1/2 inch by tomorrow morning.

Future Trak @ 8am Monday

Out model dries us out tomorrow morning around 8am. We will still see some more rain tomorrow, but not until the mid to late afternoon as another wave of moisture moves overhead. This will be the last round of rain as we should be looking at cooler temperatures and clearer skies on Tuesday.

Stay Dry!
