LMF: It’s Been A Long TimeDecember 11th, 2012 at 1:05 pm by Kyle Bloom under THRS Live Music
Greetings and Happy Tuesday. Well, if you’re one of my Facebook friends then you have seen the news, if not then I will let you know here. I have been promoted to become the Director of WAVY News 10 Today (the morning news show) and The Hampton Roads Show. If wondering about the future of this blog and of Live Music Friday, don’t fret, I’m still the Music Director and I will continue to book the crazy musical talent we have here and spreading the word and promoting the heck out of your awesome stuff right here. I might not be able to post as many blogs per week as I would like to due to the extra job duties but I’m going to do my best. So lets get on with the music.
Our Live Music Friday featured artist last week was Bria Kelly. If the name sounds familiar, it should. She was a semi-finalist in this past season of America’s Got Talent and the Smithfield High student isn’t slowing down anytime. She recently performed as part of YouthBands for the Hampton Holly Days parade and she will be performing at the NorVa this Friday for Charity For Cheer along with fellow Live Music Friday alumnus: Ben Phelps, Grant Austin Taylor and Augustine. Tickets are $12 with $2 going towards Sandy relief efforts. The show starts at 7p and it’s one you don’t want to miss. Check out The NorVa box office or Jewish Mother Backstage for tickets.
Norfolk indie folk rockers, The Loomis Fargo Gang are finishing their new album and plan on releasing it early next year but they have offered an appetizer to help tide over your hunger. Tootsie In The Breeze is a fun little country diddy that you can check out by clicking here. Keep your eyes and ears on this group and make sure you pick up The Prettiest Shade Of Blue when it’s released.
The great year Kishi Bashi is having just gets better and better. He just announced dates for his upcoming US tour in which he would be headlining some awesome venues including the Bowery Ballroom in NYC and The Troubadour in LA (He also has a local date set but I’m not allowed to tell you about it just yet) and has just been named one of NPR’s Best New Artist of 2012. Kishi has been just having an awesome year and I have a feeling 2013 is going be even better.
Kishi was also gracious enough to stop by the studio and chat for a bit for our Best Of Live Music Friday show that will air Friday, December 28. I will talk more about it when the time comes but you do not want to miss this show.
That’s it for me today. I will hit you back up tomorrow. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC
