Warmth Has Arrived! …What? Now??December 3rd, 2012 at 8:03 am by Jeremy Wheeler under Weather
So for the last month and a half we only had about 4-5 days above average. December comes along and now we are starting with lows in the mid 50s. Highs today will be in the upper 60s to near 70. It’s very common to get warmups in December, but they are typically brief. Last year we had pretty warm temperatures, but there were some brief cool downs. So today we are running well above the average of 56. While we have lots of clouds this morning we will go for partly sunny skies later today.
Tomorrow a cold front will approach from the west, but it won’t move through just yet. So we’ll have our usual warmup out ahead of it. It will be great. Highs will be in the low 70s with partly sunny skies. The cold front will make it through on Wednesday. We’ll have some scattered showers with it, and temps will drop from the upper 50s to the low 50s through the day.
Highs will only be near 50 by Thursday, but we will have warmer temperatures again by next weekend. Not to shabby for the timing.
Outside of our region, there has been a lot of rain and flooding on the west coast. That is typical of an El Nino weather pattern. Hopefully, they get some relief soon.
The rest of the country has been running pretty dry. That’s a big deal as this is the time of year to recharge aquifers.
