LMF: Bekah EdenNovember 23rd, 2012 at 1:01 pm by Kyle Bloom under THRS Live Music
Well I hope you’re recovered from that turkey, potato, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie hangover. Probably not since you’re going to be eating that meal in a variety of different ways for the next week. As you’re enjoying some family time and decompressing from the manic shopping frenzy of the day, I hope you tuned into the show today and saw our fantastic Live Music Friday featured artist, Bekah Eden. Bekah has an incredible voice and a great presence for writing songs from the heart. While other songwriters write songs about breakups, love or their troubles, Bekah writes about the struggle and hardships of others and provides a voice for those that don’t have one. She is a cause singer and has partnered up with HH4 Heroes (Harvesting Happiness For Heroes) and wrote the song that she performed on the show called In Between. The powerful song strikes a cord with everyone that hears it including the judging panel for the 2012 Malibu Music Awards, who honored Bekah as their Best Upcoming Female Artist.
A gradute of ODU, Bekah is currently working on her new EP that is due next year and is also involved in helping kids with a passion in music in developing their music and songwriting skills. Bekah is someone that you need to keep on your radar as I see big things coming her way in the not so distance future. You can check out her full, two song performance from the show below and you can connect with her on Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Soundcloud and her brand new website that will be launching December 1.
If you need to get out of the house or out of the malls this afternoon, I have the place for you. Not only will you be listening to some great local bands but you’ll be also drinking great local beer and helping a great cause all at the same time. From 4-8p, O’Connor Brewing Company is hosting the “O’Connor Brewery Black Friday Relief Party”. For $20, you get 3 16oz O’Connor brews of your choice (My personal favorite is the Norfolk Canyon), awesome music from Boneske, Rylo and our LMF friends, DJP and MrT and The Mirrors and 25% of ticket proceeds will go to the American Red Cross to help the Hurricane Sandy relief efforts.
It’s also National Record Store Day, so get out to your favorite record show and pick up some awesome vinyl and blast it all day long.
That’s all for me today. Have a great weekend and get out there and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC
