LMF: Like A Storm

Friday is here and the weekend is a mere few hours away.  Today was a day a lot of us here and in Hampton Roads have been waiting for:  The return of Like A Storm to The Hampton Roads Show.  I’ve mentioned before that I like to keep Live Music Friday exclusively locals only but I make an exception to these guys.  In my 15 years working within the music industry, I haven’t scene such a passionate fan following for a band like I do for Like A Storm and their fans here.  Whenever they’re in town, whether it’s opening for Creed or Alter Bridge or out on a headlining tour like they are now, they take the time to visit their fans, hang out with them and play small in-home shows.  They also support our local music scene by either going out to shows or inviting them on their bill.   Pretty cool.  They are about to release their second album, ‘Chaos Theory’ in the next couple weeks and they performed the first single, Southern Skies, on the show today.  Playing over 100 shows this year, they spent the majority of writing and recording the album on the road and in various hotel rooms much to the delight of their neighbors and hotel managers.  They recorded it in two parts, both are full length with the first part set to release in the coming weeks and the second to be released in 2013.  They will be performing cuts of Chaos as  they are in-town headlining at Shaka’s at the Oceanfront with local favorites Seven Ten Oil, Dirty Rock and Vegas Alibi.  Tickets are $10 at the door, so get there early as the show will probably sell out.  If you missed their performance, no worries, you can check it out here.

Tomorrow is the big Localpalooza Music & Arts Festival at the Oceanfront.  Over 90 local bands on 9 stages.  Check out this link for all of the info.  I’ll be there and I hope to see you there too!

That’s it for me.  Have a great weekend and I hope to see you at Localpalooza tomorrow and at the Like A Storm show Sunday night.  Get out there and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC!
