LMF: Storm FrontNovember 15th, 2012 at 10:48 am by Kyle Bloom under THRS Live Music, Uncategorized
Thursday is upon us and I feel a storm front coming…A Like A Storm kind of front. Our brothers from the Southern Skies return to The Hampton Roads Show as our Live Music Friday featured artist. I try to make LMF exclusively for our local, original artists but I do make an exception for Like A Storm. I like to consider them a ‘step-local’ band because of their huge local fan base, their deep love for the area and their support of our local music scene. They have been coming here on a regular basis for the last several years opening up for Creed and Alter Bridge but they also have coming here to just visit with their fans and performing small, intimate acoustic shows in their homes. The last time they were here was back in March and they performed a FREE fan appreciation show at Sliders and added local rockers Seven Ten Oil and Solemn Flight to the bill. They are now in the middle of their first headlining tour and they will be performing Sunday night at Shaka’s at the Oceanfront with local rock bands, Dirty Rock, Vegas Alibi and Seven Ten Oil. I’ll talk more the boys in tomorrow’s blog.
A couple of members of the Live Music Friday family are joining forces and performing a show tonight. Skye Zentz (LMF: June 8) and Logan Vath (LMF: Sept. 21) will be performing at The Night of the Iguana in Norfolk (Hampton Blvd & 37th St.) Both are stellar singers and songwriters that put a lot of passion in their storytelling and captures everyone’s soul that they play for. The show starts at 7:30, so get out there, grab some grub and a few drinks and let the music take you away…or Calgone, whichever you prefer.
Our favorite new blues act is throwing a little party and you’re invited. Anthony Rosano and The Conqueroos are throwing a little Memphis-style BBQ fundraiser. They are competing in the Memphis International Blues Challenge and they need you’re help to get there. For a small fee of $15, you will get a belly full of Memphis style ribs, chicken, pulled pork and all the fixin’s. Anthony and the boys will be playing an awesome set and I bet a few special surprise guests will be tagging along as well. Anthony will also be auctioning off one of his custom made (by Anthony himself) cigar box guitars like the one he played on The Hampton Roads Show. If you want to go, click on this link to RSVP..it’s at a private residence so they need an accurate count to know how much food to make…and don’t let the words “private residence” scare you off. You know the best parties are house parties, so what better way to make some new friends than by eating some good Q and listening to some awesome music. Oh, it’s also BYOB..so bring enough for your gang and a couple for Anthony. All proceeds will go directly to their travel costs and competition fees.
That’s all for me today. I’ll check you out tomorrow, so between now and then, get out and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC.
