LMF: After The RainNovember 1st, 2012 at 11:12 am by Kyle Bloom under THRS Live Music
The week is rounding up and we’re finally able to get out and clean up from Sandy. I wanted to mention that several shows were cancelled or postponed this past weekend because of the storm including the Holly Would… CD release party. That show has been rescheduled for Saturday, November 10 at Shaka’s. If you had tickets for the originally scheduled date, they will be honored for the new one.
Tomorrow is Live Music Friday and our featured artist will be Cole Childers. The former frontman of Chasing Corona, Cole is stepping out on his own and is about to release his debut EP, Aurora. Cole was also the subject of one of our I Am Hampton Roads segments, so check it out hear to learn more about Cole’s story.
Our featured artist last week was D*Nik, an great hip hop rock fun fusion group. It was just their second live performance ever and they performed their single, Day and Night. Well, they mentioned that they just released the video for Day and Night and I have it for you right here.
Our favorite band from the Southern Hemisphere, Like A Storm, is tearing up the country on their first headlining tour in support of their brand new album, Chaos Theory. The Brooks brothers have been turning heads and gaining a swath of new fans this summer as they toured with Creed. While they are not a “local” band by blood, they certainly can be considered a ‘step-local’ band. They have a HUGE following in the 757, one like I have not seen before with any other band. They always come out of their way and play private in-home shows with their local fans and even just hang out and do to dinner with them. They performed on the show for their first ever television appearance back in March and I still get emails to this day about how awesome they were. Well, mark Friday November 16 on your calendar because they will be making their return to The Hampton Roads Show stage. They will be performing that Sunday night at Shaka’s at the Oceanfront with our local favorites Seven Ten Oil, Dirty Rock and Vegas Alibis. Tickets are still available but they are going fast. If you have never seen Like A Storm live, you definitely need to. I’ll be there and I hope to see you there too.
That’s all I have for today. I’ll hit you up tomorrow with a preview of who to see this weekend, so get out and SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC
