LMF: Blue Monday

October 8th, 2012 at 11:15 am by under THRS Live Music

Greetings and salutations on this brisk October Monday.  I hope your weekend was full of relaxation and plenty of local music.  Perhaps some of you headed out to A.J. Gators in Chesapeake Friday night to hear our Live Music Friday featured artist, Seven Ten Oil perform.  This past week marked the return of the veteran rock band to The Hampton Roads Show. This appearance was the third and placed them into the exclusive Three Timers Club along with Felicia Barton. They performed two awesome acoustic renditions of their songs, After All and The Pavement.  If you missed the show, don’t worry, I have you covered as always and as always both songs in their entirety are included.  I have received a lot of great responses since we decided to continue to record on the bands after the show to include the entire second songs.  I only wish we did this sooner!

The guys are hosted the second annual Rock For The Cure benefit concert this Saturday at Code 3 in the Churchland section of Portsmouth.  Joint Therapy, Dirty Rock, Solemn Flight, JACT, One Among Us, Crazy Daze and Chasing Time are also on the bill and the proceeds are benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation.  Tons of door prizes, raffles, corn holes and good times will be had.  This is an event you don’t want to miss.  It all starts at 4p.

You might be wondering why I titled this blog for the New Order song (or Little Milton, whichever you prefer).  Well, it’s a little blue today because our long time morning show anchor and THRS co-host, Kerri Furey announced that this will be her last week.  She will be heading into the tough field of getting the kids ready and out the door for school to beat the the monstrosity that is the  car pool line.  She has not only been a great co-worker and dear friend but also a big supporter of the local music scene and of this blog.  I can’t thank her enough for the numerous shout outs she has given to this blog and I have a little something up my sleeve for her farewell show Friday.  You’ll just have to stay tuned.
