First Day of Autumn, Big Changes Coming!

September 22nd, 2012 at 9:38 am by under Weather

The Autumnal Equinox is at 10:49am today making it the first day of Fall. Except its’ not going feel like Fall today with the rise in temperatures we’ll see this afternoon. Before we get into the forecast lets recap the Summer:

Summer 2012

We had 30 days at or above 90 degrees. Two Days were above 100! But this year was cooler than last. Last year the average high temperature we had during the summer was 86.5 degrees. This year was a degree cooler. We even had more 100+ degree days last year with the hottest day at 103.

Today we are getting another taste of summer with a high near 86.

Front moving in…

This front doesn’t have a good amount of moisture to work with in the atmosphere, so its going to be difficult to get rain out of it. Future Trak does bring in some rainfall around midnight tonight across Hampton Roads. Tomorrow we should see clearing skies but cooler temperatures in the afternoon.

With a Northwest wind at 10-20mph tomorrow highs will stay in the low 70s. This pattern should continue, but with calmer conditions¬† by Tuesday. By the way, on Tuesday morning…we could see a morning low temperature near 49 degrees!

In the meantime, enjoy the ups and downs of fall with the heat today and the cool air for our Sunday.
