Strong Storms Possible Tonight

September 8th, 2012 at 9:38 am by under Weather

We are starting another day with heat and humidity across the area. Temperatures this morning were near 80 degrees in Elizabeth City! Starting tonight we will see big changes in our forecast and it will be all because of a cold front moving in later today.

Today

The timing of these storms appears to be late in to the evening. As of this morning the front was still in Ohio.

Future Trak at 9pm

Our Future Trak brings in the thunderstorms before 9pm. So around sunset today we could start to see activity across the region. The biggest threat with these storms will be for damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall. Most of the storms will move out overnight and tomorrow we will be left with a few clouds in the morning. Afternoon clearing with highs near 79 is expected tomorrow.

A quick update on the tropics:

Leslie Moves North

Leslie should pick up the pace and continue moving north over this upcoming week. It should eventually weaken once it hits cooler waters off the coast of Nova Scotia.

Enjoy your weekend and stay sky aware tonight.
