LMF: Right On Band

It’s Friday and I’m still at home soaking in the beauty…and the fussiness of my week-old daughter, Penny Grace.  I guess you can say that she has fully inherited the rock star lifestyle: Sleep all day and party all night.  Living on a few hours of sleep a night, I’m not really sure when the days end and start or start and end..whatever. The only reason I know it’s Friday is that I turned on the t-vision and caught Right On Band performing on Live Music Friday.  I knew when I booked this group that it was going to be a party and a party it sure was. I’m pretty sure that was the first ever drum riser on LMF.  This 15 year old ’70′s inspired band has played all over the world and has performed for the last 3 Presidents of the United States and I’m not talking about the Seattle ‘Peaches” band.  They will be performing at the Ronald McDonald House’s Annual Oyster Roast Saturday, Sept. 29.  Tickets for that event are on sale now and you can get all the info right here.  In case you missed the show today, here is there entire two song performance and if you didn’t recognize the guitarist, it’s Gabe Dyson from Audiostrobelight.

This weekend is beyond jammed pack with great local music.  Tonight, Norfolk is throwing a HUGE block party downtown. Coined the “Granby Street Experience: Meet, Greet & Imagine”, The City Of Norfolk is throwing a one-of-a-kind street festival with several local bands and buskers filling the sky with local sounds.  The list is ever growing but I do know that Crissy Babe and The Dastards will be performing at The Plot.  The event kicks off at 6p and lasts through 9p.  Also in Norfolk, another one-of-a-kind festival is taking over Town Point Park.  ETC-Embrace The Culture is going to be something special.  Independent artists from all genres and the region will showcase their craft and several workshops will take place to show you how you can get your writings published and your songs recorded for a demo.  That kicks off at 12p and last throughout the night.

Over in Hampton, the 30th Annual Hampton Bay Days kicks off tonight.  A whole arsenal of local music will fill the various stages including many past Live Music Friday guests including The Dharma Initiative, MSG, EVER-G, Longfellow Street, Seth Stainback,Bobby “Black Hat” Walters,  Grant Austin Taylor Band, Lewis & Kaycee McGehee, Ron Fetner and The Blue Lords.  The festivities last all weekend and you can find all the info right here.

That’s it for me.  Hope you all have a great weekend and I’ll catch up with you Monday where I will be debuting a new feature of the blog called “LMF Presents”.  Don’t know what it is?  Well, I guess you’ll have to log in Monday to find out.  Cheers!
