Live Music Friday: Revery
Friday is upon us and The Hampton Roads Show stage (or as our lovely co-host Anne McNamara calls it, “The Hampton Roads stage”) rocked with the sounds of Revery. Nearing their 10th anniversary, the boys are not missing a beat and are continuing to spread their rock star craft to the fullest. Vocalist Jason Martinez, lead guitarist Mike Doyle, guitarist John Adkins, drummer Tripp Johnson and bassist Jason Jacquin arrived at station fashionable early at 6:15a. I usually greet the bands when they come in but I was still working the news, so that left me running back
and forth between commercial breaks, which I think I can mark off as my morning workout. They finished setup and rocked soundcheck, so I knew everyone was in for a treat. They performed Something About You and Like A Kid and you can see both songs in their entirety below and if you want to check them out live, they’ll be performing at Bayside Harley in Portsmouth for the 1st annual Bikes and Tykes event Saturday, Sept. 22.
Another busy weekend for great local music. ECSC is running in full gear and the music starts today with Richmond’s Pyschobilly Cadillac on The House Of Marley main stage. Get out there and support you local bands and enjoy some great surfing and skating. I’ll be out there all weekend, so say hi! Also tonight, LMF alumnus A New Day Rising, The Eleventh Hour, JACT, City Voices, Kevin A. Ramey are playing The Wesley House on the campus of ODU. I haven’t been out there yet but I’ve heard nothing but good things about this underground venue at ODU.
Tomorrow night, our good friend Mike Federali will be performing at The Blue Turtle in Virginia Beach along with Mike Gombas and Mike Bedell and fellow LMF alumnus, The Phillip Roebuck Band will be hittin’ up The Jewish Mother Hilltop along with The Wet Boys.
That’s it for me. Get out and see some awesome original local music and I’ll hit you up next week. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC
