On The Run Again!

Post Olympic Blues

I tuned in to NBC last night. Somehow, there was no Olympic Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Gymnastics, Handball, Judo, Water Polo, or Dressage. I guess they must be done… Seriously, “Congrats” to all who participated. Regardless of where anyone places, it’s an honor 99.9% of us will never get to experience. Paint me envious. I also noticed that if you took the US Women’s efforts as a separate Country, they would’ve finished Top Three in Gold Medals overall. This year, the Ladies outnumbered the guys and really “stepped up” their game! So much about it being a “Man’s World!”

Here’s To Our Winners!

Fun at The Mud Run!

Here in the “757″, the ASYMCA 8K Mud Run got “down and dirty” as Virginia Beach’s Sean Trombly was the Overall Winner in 31:40. The Ladies were led on this crazy course by Yoko England in 38:32.

Vineyards of Williamsburg 5K weren’t available but my friends at the Colonial Road Runners Always put on a great challenging event. In fact, the Great Rick Platt caught up with me last year and we chatted about the group. They say “what’s old is new”, so check our interview…”On The Run!”

Thanks Again, Rick! Always great to spend time with you!

Away We Go!

Time to Move Forward! This weekend, theSurfers Healing 5k takes off from 4th Street at the Oceanfront. Head across the tunnel to Newport News, where the Boys and Girls Clubs Smart Smiles 5K starts at the Mariner’s Museum. Want to go a bit farther? Up the Road in Martha’s Vineyard in MA, our friends from Mettle Events will also be a part of4th Annual 5K Run for Jabberwocky. If you want to pull out your track spikes, the Tidewater Striders have their Strider Mile at Tallwood HS.

Sunday, the Norfolk Sprint Triathlon hits the beach, the streets and the sand. There are some spots still available. Good luck to those of you who “Tri!”

You can always find out more info by checking colonialroadrunners.org, tidewaterstriders.com, peninsulatrackclub.com, runningetc.com, finalkick.com, or mettleevents.com.

Cross Train, Anyone?

From what I hear when I chat with friends, many of you cross train. Whether it’s biking, swimming, core work, or even lawn mowing, we all look to get a competitive edge. I was alerted to an article about Yoga as an ingredient to a successful training compliment. I know some people who do Yoga. The writer, Rich Roll, is a two-time top finisher at the Ultraman World Championships and has also competed in Five Ironman events in one week. Enjoy the Read!

Feedback Time!

Sometimes I’m right, sometimes, I’m wrong. Special thanks to those of you who keep me in check, like friend of the blog, Susan Hagel, who made sure I had the right location for last week’s Predict your Time event. I always enjoy having extra eyes and ears throughout Hampton Roads.

If you have a story idea, interesting feedback, or just want to see your name mentioned next time, hit us up! Be on the lookout for us at upcoming events. You never know- I might just catch you… “On The Run!”

See You On the Run!
