Heavy Rain & A New Storm in the Atlantic

August 15th, 2012 at 9:40 pm by under Weather

That cold front really packed a punch across Hampton Roads this evening. Many areas got heavy rain from these thunderstorms in just a short period of time. The area that say the most rain was hands down in North Carolina.

Rain Totals. Over 2 Inches from Elizabeth City, NC

*I also got a total of 0.83″ from Duck, NC.

Tomorrow we won’t see any rainfall. An area of high pressure is developing overhead which should keep our weather calm and sunny. Highs tomorrow will still be near average for this time of year with numbers topping out around 87 degrees. On Friday night and Saturday morning another cold front is going to move in which will keep our weekend forecast unsettled.

Off to the tropics, Tropical Depression #8 formed today.

Moving Away from North America.

We shouldn’t have to worry about it though, it is expected to move away from North America over the next 24 hours while it continues to get stronger.  Otherwise there isn’t much else to worry about in the tropics. The weather remains quiet for now.

Enjoy your sunny Thursday!
