A Few Strong Storms Tomorrow

The air was drier today. Dew points in many cities remained in the 60s today which was a welcomed change for those who have been looking forward the lower humidity. Since the air is dry in our area we will stay dry tonight with passing clouds. For tomorrow the storm system that has been in the Midwest will get closer.

Cold Front brings in storms.

The storm prediction center has included all of Hampton Roads in a slight risk for severe storms tomorrow.

Slight Risk of Strong Storms tomorrow.

Hail will be possible in these storms but the biggest threat could be the dry air. When strong storms enter in dry air, the part of the thunderstorm where it is raining will tend to cool off. This happens because the rain droplets are evaporating. If you recall, warm air rises and cold air sinks. The colder that downdraft gets the higher chance we could see damaging wind gusts.

We’ll have to keep our eye on the sky tomorrow.
