New Storm in the Tropics
We got a new storm to track in the Atlantic Ocean. Tropical Depression #5 as of now is a fairly decent looking storm to the northeast of South America. The storm has wind speeds sustained at 35mph and its booking it to the west at around 17mph.
From the looks of the forecast fan, Hampton Roads should be in the clear…but I wouldn’t trust that forecast 100 percent yet. It still is a ways out at this point. But if it does follow this forecast it should be moving through Jamaica on Monday as a likely tropical storm or possibly weak hurricane.
Back to our area, the weather was nice this morning, but it heated up quickly. We started the day with lows near 70 and by 11am temperatures were already at 88 degrees. As we look ahead we might see a few scattered thunderstorms develop this afternoon.
In addition, we’ll also see our high temperatures stuck in the low 90s for the next few days, including this weekend. Storm chances will remain small, but a few areas could see one or two isolated popup showers.
Enjoy your Thursday!
