LMF: 180 Out & Pillbuster

July 25th, 2012 at 10:50 am by under THRS Live Music

It’s day 2 of my Battle For Buckcherry preview. Yesterday, I introduced to you to Gypside and One Among Us and the reception was well-received.  I got a lot of tweets, emails and Facebook messages about each band and checking them out for the first time.  That’s the whole goal here, to open your eyes and discover new music..local music. Today, I’m going to introduce you to new more bands performing Saturday night at The NorVA in hope to win a supporting slot for Buckcherry’s show August 18.

In 2011, four men with similar ideals and dreams to rock, converged on Virginia Beach from different parts of the country to create Pillbuster. Their sound is best described as hard, raw and in your face.  Some say it might even make puppies cry..but in a good way.  Vocalist Brett Lloyd along with guitarist Joe Festa, bassist Chris Kernstock and drummer Douglas Stanek are destined to blow the roof off the joint on any place they play and The NorVa is no exception.  You can check out and connect with Pillbuster here.

Pillbuster’s Favorite Buckcherry Song: Crazy Bitch

180 Out has been making their sound known in Hampton Roads since 2008.  With Hatclub and Lil Lyn rocking the cords, Twitchy Capone and Boss Hog keeping the beat, Chewie  Johnson keeps the crowd on their feet with his rockin’ pipes.  They already have a little battle going on with fellow competitor, One Among Us.  Some good ole smack talk has been transpiring on their Facebook walls.  It’s pretty entertaining to watch and both are sure to bring their A game Saturday night.  You can hook up with 180 Out here.

180 Out’s Favorite Buckcherry Song: Lit Up

Tune in tomorrow as I profile the final two bands: Dirty Rock and Seven Ten Oil
