Hot Week Ahead…Till Friday

July 16th, 2012 at 7:48 am by under Weather

We just had a half and half weekend with storms on Saturday, and a pretty nice day yesterday.  There were a few storms north of Hampton Roads yesterday, but the metro had some nice Summertime conditions.  I got to enjoy some pool time with the family, after filling-in for Jeff on Saturday.  Today we started off with some great weather.  We had partly sunny skies and a great view from our tower cam.  (It was even nicer an hour ago, but I didn’t capture it in time).

Tower Cam This Morning

We’ll have partly cloudy skies today with some scattered showers and storms expected on the northern edge of an area of high pressure.

Today’s Forecast
Temperatures will rise to the low-to-mid 90s, but the heat index will get up to around 100 or even a little higher this afternoon.  Tomorrow the high pressure zone will build north a bit.  This will give us a more westerly (from the west) wind, and this may dry us out a touch; but it will also spike the temps.  Highs will be in the upper 90s tomorrow with a heat index between 99 and 106.  Even though the temperatures will be hotter, we may actually dry out a touch.  So with that we are forecasting a heat index only a little more than today.  Stay tuned though as a slight change in the wind can easily change the humidity.  We could even see some heat advisories tomorrow.  We’ll stay hot on Wednesday.  Then we’ll start cooling things down on Thursday with a higher chance for rain and storms.  This will be ahead of the next cold front which will drop our high temperatures next weekend into the mid 80s.
