Solar Storm

Possible Aurora (NASA Photo)
I wasn’t going to blog today, but I found an interesting article on some differences between the NOAA and NASA forecasts for the recent solar event. This article is from the Washington Post, but it brings up a really interesting point about how the forecast can be different. It uses an example of hurricane forecasting: Solar Storm discrepancy.
If one agency is correct, then we may see some of the aurora here in Hampton Roads. Keep an eye to the sky tonight for any greenish or reddish glow. Here is another link for more on aurora. Aurora Skies will be partly cloudy tonight. So there will be some breaks for possible viewing. Otherwise fairly quiet weather for the weekend. A few showers are possible today, and a stray shower tomorrow. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s. Have a good one.
