Quiet Weekend?

Could it be that we will actually see a quiet weekend?  It’s looking that way.  In fact I almost didn’t write a blog today (pause for the shock and awe sounds), but I thought I’d put something quick out to send you on your way.  The stationary front that has sat near the region is still to our south today near Hatteras west.  It may kick off a shower or storm over northeast North Carolina, but we should just see a mix of sun and clouds over Hampton Roads.  Highs will be in the mid 80s.  Over the weekend weak high pressure will give us partly cloudy skies with only a stray shower or storm either Saturday or Sunday.  The heat will slowly build through the weekend.  Upper 80s Saturday….Low 90s on Sunday.  Then we’ll have low/mid 90s into the middle of next week.  With the humidity we could see the heat index get back up to around 100 by Tuesday.  We’ll have some scattered afternoon storms from Monday through Wednesday.  We may get a cool down next Thursday.

There is one update worth noting.  The latest U.S. Drought Monitor came out yesterday, and it shows the drought intensifying across the central U.S.  There will be some relief over parts of the southeast, but not enough.

The tropics are quiet.  The local beaches should be good.  Enjoy the weekend.  I’ll be in for Jeff tomorrow in the morning.  I will skip a blog though unless something changes.  Ciao.
