Extreme Heat & Humidity Coming to a End.

July 8th, 2012 at 9:03 am by under Weather

After this long stretch of heat and humidity I am unsure if I am going to miss it or not…but I can say I will enjoy having evenings where the temperature does at least cool off to be near 70 than at 82 like it was this morning. Today, we have a heat advisory across the area until 8pm where we can have a heat index of 109 today. Take it easy if your working outside and remember to keep up that water intake.

Cold Front Coming

That cooler air has slowly been making its way to our area over the last day, but with it comes some strong storms. Yesterday in Pennsylvania, there were over 100 damaging wind gust reports. One of the storms in Eastern PA caused a building to collapse.

Strong Storms Possible Later

We are in a slight risk for severe weather today, these storms are likely going to develop mid-to-late afternoon around D.C and Richmond and then continue to move in overnight. Some areas near Williamsburg and along the Northern Neck may see storms before sundown.

Future Trak @5pm

As you know the timing can easily change an hour or two, but there may be areas tonight which experience those high wind gusts. Stay sky aware this afternoon and we will pass any updates along to you.

By the way, next week we have a chance for storms almost everyday, but the highs will be in the mid-80s.

Have a Good Sunday,

Meteorologist Jeff Edmondson
