Find peace in the morning rush and you will have a good day.
Today is my last morning in a.m. web and I can honestly say I’m sad to see it go.
Before this week I wasn’t sure if I’d survive waking up at the crack of dawn every single day. But I’ve made it and it honestly wasn’t that bad, all you need in coffee!
Today I probably didn’t even need coffee because there was a band playing this morning when I arrived which had me toe tapping as I was posting stories. Apparently every Friday a different band comes and plays a set on the Hampton Roads Show, and everyone in the newsroom gets to reap the benefits and hear great music!
So what did I learn during my a.m. week in web?
I learned to post AP stories, construct my own story from a press release and pick the important wires that are worth publishing. Oh, and the importance of knowing and understanding AP style!
Next week I transition into nightly web and I have to be at Wavy by 4, so we’ll see if I’m still getting up this early when I don’t have to… I’ll keep you posted
