How About The 4th?

July 3rd, 2012 at 8:21 am by under Weather

Yesterday we had a weak cool front move through the area.  It made for a fairly comfortable evening.  Then this morning that same boundary is moving back north as a warm front.  So no cool downs today.

Today’s Weather

High temperatures are expected to get up to the low/mid 90s with a little cooler conditions near the shore and a few upper 90s inland.  At least we’re not seeing the widespread upper 90s and 100s.  Still… the heat index will be up near 100 today. We will see a few storms out there later this afternoon.  With all of the heat and humidity we could even see a couple of strong storms.  Tomorrow for the 4th of July we are still calling for partly cloudy skies and some scattered showers and storms in the afternoon and evening.  Luckily I’ve only got the chance at 40%.  Our computer model has the rain ending by about 8pm, but some of the other models keep the showers and storms through about 10pm.  Remember last year we had scattered showers and storms and some of the fireworks had to be rescheduled.  Some cities still had the show.  So it’s possible we see a repeat this year.  Cross your fingers that the storms will move in and out quickly. After that we are looking at more Summer weather with highs in the mid 90s into the weekend.  It looks like a higher chance for storms on Sunday and Monday.  At least the tropics are quiet.  Meteorologist: Jeremy Wheeler
