An Active Morning; More Storms Possible Later
Many areas across Hampton Roads saw small hail this morning. As early as 6am there was pea sized hail falling in Newport News. Later in the morning we had a storm become severe which dropped quarter-size hail in Driver.
Today we have a similar setup with that stationary boundary off to our north. What that means is another hot and humid day with a high near 96. There is also a Heat Advisory for parts of our area from 2pm until 8pm. Heat Index Values will be near 105 today.
A weak shortwave of energy will move across Hampton Roads increasing the threat for severe thunderstorms again today. The Storm Prediction Center has included our area for a slight risk of severe storms.
Like yesterday the biggest threats will be damaging wind gusts and hail. At this point some afternoon development is possible across our area and these storms could continue in to the evening. Tomorrow looks like a day we might get a break until the evening from the storms.
Stay cool today and keep your eyes on the sky for more storms!
