Today I arrived at the news desk to find out that I was going to out today…. CUE my heart rate shooting out of my body!! I got to shadow Jason Marks and Greg Gadberry, they were a lot of fun to be around and also shared a lot of useful tips about being in all aspects of news.

Watching Jason in action was pretty exciting. He has the ability to think quickly on his feet and ask all the right questions at the right time. I really hope that I can be as good as he is one day. Greg was really good about explaining why he was filming certain things and the process of incorporating sound with picture.

The story Jason covered today was about the combining of services between Norfolk, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach. Basically, the three cities could potentially combine their police, firemen and healthcare services. Previously, this has never been considered, but with the savings being as great as 2.2 million dollars, I’d say it’s worth a shot

Oprah Aha Moment of the Day: If you’re going to be in news you have to be willing to move. I’ve talked to a variety of people in news and they’ve come from so many different places.  I wouldn’t mind moving (since I’m military, I’m used to it), a change of scenery could be nice!
