A Warm Weekend across Hampton Roads
It should be a spectacular day today and tomorrow for our area. Highs today will be in the 70s with a slight breeze in the afternoon around 10-15mph. Keep in mind the UV Index will be high at 8 today. Also, the Pollen levels will be high at an 11.
That area of high pressure off to our east today will boost temperatures quickly from the lows we had this morning in the 30s to the 70s this afternoon. The same thing should happen tomorrow but we should see highs near 80 on Sunday. Now, see the warm front? That will move through the area tonight giving us a chance for a few sprinkles.
A few sprinkles for the E. Shore and Northern Neck, and possibly as far south as Virginia Beach are possible tonight, but quickly tomorrow we will see more sunshine and warm temperatures.
The whole reason we are warming up so quickly is really part of that high pressure center over the Atlantic, but there is also a very strong storm system in the Midwest today which could bring tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds. We won’t see any of these storms here, but if you have friends and family in any of the states with a slight, moderate or high risk issued by the Storm Prediction Center. It might be a good idea to check in with them today to make sure they stay sky aware with this potentially dangerous situation.
There will be several storm chasers out today in these areas. If you want to follow them Spotter Network has a great map based tool to see live video from their chase.
Enjoy the weekend.
