A Chilly Day, Warmup Coming….Then cold air returns.February 9th, 2012 at 1:01 pm by Jeff Edmondson WAVY under Weather
Its going to be a roller coaster of temperatures for the next few days. High temperatures this afternoon should be in the upper 40.
Tonight is going to be another chilly night. Lows will likely get below freezing again across Hampton Roads from the lack of clouds overhead tonight. Tomorrow a switch happens, a south wind will develop as that area of high pressure moves east over the ocean.
The short warm up won’t last long though, even colder air is going to be moving in from an arctic blast occurring to our Northwest this weekend. What it means for us is temperatures struggling to make it to the 40s on Sunday and lows in the mid 20s. If you were wondering….this is below normal for our area, but we still are ranked as the 8th warmest winter ever on record. Normal highs are near 49 degrees.
In addition, there is a chance we could see a wintry mix of precipitation if that moisture can push over the cold front. Its unlikely but areas North of Williamsburg might see a wet snowflake or two Saturday morning.
Enjoy the rest of your Thursday,
