We're On The Run Again!
Quick One Last Weekend
With the Summer, the Racing schedule decreases just a bit, but there was some “fun in the sun” to be had out there. The Strider Mile was featured at the Tallwood HS track. Sika Henry, who me mentioned her many times, was the Fastest Female, crossing the line in 5:56, while on the Men’s side, Ryan Carroll proved he’s swift on the track as well as the streets, clocking a 4:35. And you thought the weather was hot, that’s “smokin’ hot!”
Talking with Ryan afterward, he mentioned that he will be in the Rock & Roll Half Marathon again this Labor Day Weekend, but with a NEW twist- He will be pushing one of the Strollers for Team Hoyt. Ryan is not the first speedy guy to “get wheels”. Michael Wardian, a very highly accomplished runner form Northern Virginia, is not only a standout in big races, but has also pushed the Strollers through many races as well. He won the 2008, 2009 and 2010 US 50 km championships and won the National Marathon in Washington, DC five of the last six years.

During the week, the Peninsula Track Club has the Lake Matoaka Williamsburg Trail Challenge Wednesday. For more, check peninsulatrackclub.com. Meantime, The Vineyards of Williamsburg 5K is ready for you this Saturday. They also offer a One Mile Run/ Walk. Colonialroadrunners.org is the place to go to get involved. On the Southside, it’s time to “Get Dirty” for the Armed Services YMCA at Little Creek. Our good friend “On The Run”, Brian Sagedy always throws a great race.
