Stand Up, Stand Out!
February 7-11, 2011 is Founder’s Week at Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach. The students and teachers invited me to be one of the guest speakers.
Even though I’m a Kempsville grad- I love Ocean Lakes, too! Here’s why: my brother Nick is an OLHS grad, I know a couple of the teachers there, and I had a wonderful experience doing Friday Night Flights at a Dolphins’ game.

In fact, one of the students I featured in my FNF story, Danny Alexander, was there today.
This year’s theme is “Stand Up, Stand Out”. I talked to the teens about standing up for what they believe in and being leaders.

I also warned them of the dangers of social networking that could come back to haunt them later in life.
They had great questions about my school experience and career.
Thanks for the beautiful dolphin figurine and thanks for inviting me, Ocean Lakes!

Thank you for sharing your stories and advice with us. You were an inspiration to the students and faculty/staff.
Ms.Livas, thank you so much for your thoughtful and well prepared comments to the students of Ocean Lakes. The faculty, staff, and students enjoyed your presentation and I appreciated your message. You certainly related well to the young audience as I heard many positive comments from the kids. Again, thank you for taking time out of what I know is a very busy schedule.
Great story Nicole! You’re such an inspiration! I must say FOX/WAVY is one of the best television news broadcast in the nation. I tune in regularly.
